Youth Off The Streets is excited to advise that Stage 1 of the major St James Kilolo High School project is now complete, comprising four classrooms, offices and toilet block. The new high school, when finished, will house and educate up to 900 young people from 83 surrounding villages in this region of Tanzania.
Building work for Stage 2, two large hostel style accommodation blocks for boys and girls, is almost complete, with plumbing and wiring now being finished.
Stage 3 has started, and consists of a dining hall, administration block and Headmaster’s house. School desks and chairs have been purchased in readiness for the first students.

Local labourers and builders are working on the project, collecting and breaking rocks for the foundations then making the bricks for the building walls. The local government will register the school and the local communities are excited that all young people in the region will have the opportunity to attend high school.
This wonderful project will have a long lasting impact on the region, employing local teachers and support staff when open, and providing educational opportunities for future generations.
Canterbury League Club has been a major supporter of this project. A recent donation from the Club was used to purchase books and furniture, and also facilitated the connection of electricity and water to the completed buildings.
