The Ambassador express his joy to be able to see the centre, to see the children who visited Australia in September and performed in his resident in Jakarta also happy to meet the whole members of the M-Y ACCC.
Asked about how children’s needs met; the funding; and programs in our camp. It was a very informal visit; quite relax apart from so many policemen around to secure the area. Local authorities (Camat/Head of Subdistrict, head of army base, Head of Police Office, Head of villages); head of local institutions and other community leader were invited. It was a big event for the local authorities and also a great privilege for us that the Ambassador and staff were willing to spare time to visit us between his busy schedule in Aceh. Children performed traditional dance and song followed by a spontaneous Waltzing Mathilda song initiated by the Ambassador Bill Farmer in return.
After the performance and relax conversation with some children and staff we had a little tour in our camp for the Ambassador and staff. They were happy to see the little library managed by children and computer lab/course provided for local children of surrounding villages. He was also happy to see that the children looked well and seemed happy. It was a great experience for all of us to have him in our centre.
